Preconceived Notions

Maleeha and Maria are two young women who unwittingly found themselves at facilities known as crisis pregnancy centers (also called “CPCs”) looking for help to end their unwanted pregnancies. These stories, and others, drove Sun Valley native Kate Dumke, and her friend Sabrine Keane, to co-direct the documentary “Preconceived”. 

 

Most people are unaware that there’s federal funding for controversial crisis pregnancy centers, which critics say advertise fake services and offer unethical counseling on abortion. 

 

In fact, according to the Idaho Statesman (Feb. 2024) “Idaho Senator Jim Risch, a Republican, announced his support for a bill that would guarantee the federal government cannot exclude pregnancy resource centers from receiving funds through the Temporary Assistance for Needy Families program. The legislation was introduced in the U.S. House in January 2024,” and the Senate a week later, with Risch as a cosponsor...
